For us here at Fostoria Baptist Church, each and every Sunday is the highlight of our week of worship! It the day that we have set aside as the Lord’s Day, one dedicated to gathering together as believers and worshiping Him corporately. We don’t gather to worship together out of a sense of duty, but out of a desire and delight to worship our God.
We join Psalmist in proclaiming,
“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD!” (Psalm 122:1)
And we would love for you to come out and join us for one of these special days.
You may be wondering, “So what exactly goes on during a Sunday and where do I fit in?” Glad you asked! Below you will find some typical questions our visitors have and their answers that will hopefully be of help to you as you make plans to join us on a Sunday in the future. And rest assured, once you arrive in our buildings, our ushers and staff will answer any question you have, help you find classes for your children, and make you feel right at home!
How should I come dressed?
Our church welcomes you as you are; we do not have a specific dress code for our public services. If you have never attended, and would feel more comfortable knowing what to expect, simply know that a majority of our church members strive for their “Sunday Best” and seek to look their sharpest. Ladies usually will wear a modest knee-length skirt, and men will wear a dress shirt and tie.
Once again, these are not required, but are listed here for your benefit.
Where do I park and where do I enter the building?
We are located at 8933 Fostoria Road, the church may be found just north of the town proper of Fostoria.
Our church entrance is located on the back of the buildings, with both a north and south drive leading to the parking lot behind the buildings. We have a large, lighted parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. It is best to park in the north parking lot which is closest to the main entrance. The main entrance is found through the glass-enclosed porch where you will find a greeter and an usher ready to assist you with finding a class or nursery and eventually finding a seat in the main auditorium.
What about my children?
Our church is all about families, including the little ones! Little children and infants are cared for in age appropriate nurseries and classes (click HERE to find out all about our nurseries and offering for children). We have several kids’ programs available including a full array of Sunday school classes for all ages. Once you enter our building, our ushers and others will be delighted to help direct you to exactly where you need to go to drop off your children.
What is Sunday school?
The Sunday school hour begins at 10:00 a.m. for all ages, and rest assured, there is a place for everyone! Through Bible stories and practical lessons, principles from the Bible for everyday living are taught at an age-appropriate level, and this includes any of our 5 adult classes. Our teachers on every level enjoy studying the Word of God and then teaching it from the heart in such a way that makes it applicable to where you are today. Sunday school ends at 10:45 a.m., at which time, we all head to the main auditorium for the morning worship service.
What is the morning worship service?
The morning worship service is the main service of Fostoria Baptist Church.
We meet at 11:00 a.m., and the service includes music from our congregation, orchestra, and choir as well as a time for preaching. Our songs are conservative in nature, and the preaching of God’s Word is both evangelistic for the unsaved and edifying for the believer. Also during this time, the children are invited to attend the classes of our children’s church—more info about our children’s church by clicking here.
Need help finding a seat? Our ushers are here to help—they will gladly help locate enough seating for your family whether you are early or running a little late. We trust you will enjoy the morning worship service and that your heart will be greatly blessed by being present for this special time.
What about the Sunday night service?
The evening service on Sunday starts at 6:00 p.m. and is sometimes referred to as the “family hour” or “family service” because the younger children (ages 4 and up) are in the service.
The preaching, often through the means of a topical series or series of messages dealing with one specific book in the Bible, is directed more to the needs of Christians and their daily walk with God along with a focus on “what we believe and why we believe it.” The family, friendly atmosphere of FBC is greatly evident during this wonderful time together. This service is both a blessing and a challenge for those needing encouragement, help, and strength in their Christian life.
What’s the invitation?
The invitation is the last part of each Sunday service at Fostoria Baptist. It is simply a time, if people so choose, to respond to what God has spoken to their heart about during the preaching ministry. This is done by coming forward and kneeling to pray. This time is important as people can make life-changing decisions that affect their life in a positive way for the Lord. It is at this time that you can request for someone to pray with you, meet with someone to find out how to be saved, or make your decision for the Lord public. Our pastoral staff and their wives, in addition to others, would be happy to assist you during the invitation.
