Missions

“Go ye therefore…”

By far the single most significant speech in human history – the final earthly words spoken by Jesus – includes the most compact expression of the Christian mission ever spoken. The Great Commission’s powerful declaration continues to reverberate through the corridors of time like peals of rolling thunder:

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:18-20

Over the past two decades, Fostoria Baptist Church has maintained a heart for the world-wide work of God. Fostoria Baptist Church currently supports almost 100 missionaries who are taking the gospel of Christ throughout the world. These missionaries are supported through and sent by local independent Baptist churches. The members of Fostoria Baptist have made the financial support of global evangelization a high priority, and the church’s missions budget exceeds 220,000 dollars. The church participates in mission trips to help new churches on foreign fields and in the U.S. with building projects. Also, our annual missions conference in October enables our church maintain a heart for world-wide missions.

The Great Commission sets the parameters of our service to Him. It’s a call to each member of God’s family. We will have other life tasks, but our primary work is to fulfill the Great Commission:  in our home, in our personal lives, in our neighborhood, in our workplace, in our community … and beyond. We have been entrusted to share the “Good News” of Christ! This is a responsibility and privilege we each much share.
